Gingham Studies, 2018–2019 brings together a series of staged photographic still lifes centred on a recurring red gingham surface. Drawn from the visual memory of family tables, neighbourhood cafés and domestic rituals across Lebanon and Italy, the gingham becomes a mnemonic ground: familiar and comforting, yet subtly estranged.
 

Across the series, food, flowers, glassware, mirrors, wigs, screens and bodily fragments are arranged through a language of domestic surrealism. An egg shifts through the refraction of water; a meal becomes an erotic sign; synthetic hair and living tulips exchange the codes of beauty; a digital image occupies the place of food. Humour, appetite, sexuality and speculative unease enter the remembered table, allowing the familiar to become uncanny without losing its intimacy.

Following the series’ public intervention across Mexico City, this archival release brings five works from Gingham Studies into finite photographic edition. Each is produced at 50 × 40 cm as an archival pigment print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta 315 gsm, in an edition of ten plus one artist’s proof. Every print is hand-signed and individually numbered by Mishele and issued with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Selected work from the series also exist as larger-format Collector Edition, offered separately through private placement. The Photographic and Collector Editions are independently sized, numbered, priced and documented; neither tier draws from the edition count of the other.
